Rough cut posts & beams

Heavy timbers straight from the mill—full dimension, structural, and ready for the jobs where the wood will be hidden, dressed on site, or left rough on purpose.

Douglas Fir is our primary beam stock. We cut posts, beams, and runs to your thickness, width, and length for builder and bulk orders across the Cariboo.

Where rough beams show up

Timber frames, barn and shop posts, deck and porch structures, equipment shelters, and exterior runs where you want maximum fiber and you're handling the finish yourself. Rough stock is the practical starting point when the beam won't be the finished ceiling.

When those same timbers are going to be the show surface—vaulted ceilings, great rooms, mantels, stair stringers you'll see every day—movement and face quality matter more before install. That's when most crews step up to Dried & Dressed Posts & Beams.

Finishing from rough

We can kiln dry, plane, and dress beams after the initial saw when your job needs a cleaner face or more stable material. For exposed interior work where finished dimensions matter up front, the dressed beam line is usually the better fit.

FAQs

What sizes do you cut for rough beams?
Send your target thickness, width, and length and we'll confirm what's available and what lead time to expect.
Are rough cut beams dried or green?
It depends on the run and your use case. For exposed applications we can advise on drying and dressing before the wood goes up.
